    Welcome, Class of ’23

    Welcome, class of ’23! I can’t believe that I am already starting this year’s seniors. It seems like I just had my last senior of ’22 only a couple months ago. And here we are. And what an awesome start it is. 🙂

    Alex, my first senior for the class of ’23, is a complete joy. She’s down-to-earth, super sweet and kind, and completely laid back. In other words, a dream to work with and photograph. Alex chose Dow Gardens as her first location, and I was able to welcome in my first senior of the year at this beautiful location. Does she remind anyone else a tiny bit of a younger Catherine Zeta Jones? Just me? I love the pictures we got here, and I found some new locations for pictures that were perfect for Alex.

    We then headed to the Chippewa Nature Center, and we took volleyball pictures. I love how they turned out. Sports pictures are always fun for me to take. We also found this gorgeous pocket of light in the forest for the next set of pictures, and I love this set so much! Isn’t that light so beautiful? I could have stayed here another hour, but I don’t know that Alex would want her session to be that long. 😉

    Our last set was taken in a beautiful field with adorable flowers and gorgeous light. The CNC never fails to deliver on beautiful light and landscapes. What an amazing welcome we had for the class of 2023! I’m so excited for this year and this group of seniors. Now onto the next!

    Picture-Perfect

    Picture-perfect is exactly how I would describe this session. From Taylor herself (so sweet!) to her outfits to the locations and weather, we really had an amazing senior photo shoot.

    Also, take a look at her makeup and hair which she got done professionally. So many of my seniors and their moms worry that professional makeup will look too heavy or unnatural. Taylor’s makeup is a picture-perfect example of how natural it can look. She’s beautiful without it. She’s beautiful with it. But wearing professional makeup makes editing for me SO much faster. I imagine it also helps Taylor feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. It’s a win-win situation! I’m always an advocate for my seniors getting their makeup done professionally, even if they hardly want any makeup done at all. Taylor’s makeup and hair pictured here are done by Laura from LC Makeup Artistry. I highly recommend her! Although I recommend my seniors get their makeup done, it is always their choice.

    Dow Gardens

    This session started at Dow Gardens. It was dark and overcast when we started, so we relied on my reflector quite a bit. I even got to pull out my flash for a few shots. Take a look at her gorgeous outfits. They are SO well put together! From the colors to the jewelry to the shoes, each outfit is a perfect example of dressing for your senior session.

    CNC

    Next, after we were done at Dow Gardens we made our way to the CNC and even caught some sunshine in our pictures. She brought her softball gear with her, and those are some of my favorites from the whole senior session.

    At the end, Taylor wore the cutest white dress. This completely shows her ability to be both tomboy and girly girl in one evening. Taylor, you are a dream to photograph! Thank you for bringing your A-game to your session. I loved every minute with you and your parents. Good luck finishing up your senior year!

  • Soccer Sweetheart Senior Session

    Soccer Sweetheart Senior Session

    Soccer is quite possibly the most popular sport here in Midland, Michigan. Why is that? I mean, aside from being an awesome sport. I remember when my family and I were getting ready to move to Michigan and were looking at houses to buy. We were house hunting on Mother’s Day weekend and passed soccer fields that were completely packed. Our realtor said that was the big weekend of the year for soccer here, and now I wonder if Maddy happened to be on that field all those years ago.

    Maddy is incredibly sweet, patient, and so, so calm and chill. Chill senior sessions are the best senior sessions. Although her favorite thing in the world does not happen to be getting her picture taken, she really did a great job humoring me and following directions. Oh, and she also just happens to be so beautiful.

    Dow Gardens is perhaps one of my most popular locations for senior sessions, and for good reason. How many cities can boast a place like this? We started there for Maddy’s session, and we had beautiful sunshine and lovely weather for her entire shoot.

    Soccer

    Yes, she does play soccer, and although I’ve never seen her in action, I’m willing to bet she’s amazing. 🙂 We grabbed a few shots with her in her uniform and with her soccer ball, and after a few pictures in the Children’s Garden, we made our way to the Nature Center.

    The white dress has been extremely popular this year, and I love that! White is such a great, neutral color on everyone, and it helps the seniors stand out when they wear it. My favorite pictures of the whole session are the ones with Maddy in her long-sleeved blue shirt. So, so gorgeous. Though the ones at the very end in a sun dress could rival those.

    Here’s what Maddy’s mom said about the session: “We are thrilled with our daughter’s Senior pictures. Eve did a great job of making the session casual and laid-back. By creating this atmosphere, she was able to capture true Maddy smiles. Love the results and enjoyed working with this kind, talented professional.”

    Urban Alley Senior Session in Downtown Midland, Michigan

    Urban senior sessions are becoming a favorite of mine. When I first started this business, shooting downtown intimidated me a bit. All those people! And the traffic! How was I supposed to get the focus on my senior and maneuver around everyone and everything else around me? Now that I have a little more experience under my belt, I feel more confident and even enjoy the busyness of Downtown Midland.

    Urban

    I blogged the first half of Jada’s session last time. Once we were done at Dow Gardens, we moved to this more urban location. I love it when my seniors choose two completely different locations for their session. Here are a few in her first urban outfit.

    Jada’s dad was kind enough to bring her little fur baby for a few of the shots. Sooo cute! This is near the Tridge.

    For the last part of this session, Jada changed into her basketball uniform. I LOVE these shots. We found this awesome alleyway that was perfect for these.

    It’s been a hot minute since I took any sports pictures for my seniors. I forgot how fun it was to integrate a sports item in a shoot! Chloe here is a basketball and soccer player for H. H. Dow High School, and I loved that she wanted to wear her jerseys for her senior session.

    We started off at her high school with her in her basketball jersey, and I just knew I wanted some shots behind the bleachers. Not only did they provide some shade, but they also added some amazing depth and visual interest. Gorgeous, right?

    We also grabbed a few shots in the sunlight on the bleachers themselves. I love this next one.

    Chloe quickly changed into her soccer attire, and we headed onto the field for some more sports pictures. She and her mom helped me move the net into some pretty light. Because honestly, it’s all about good light. Although having a good subject certainly doesn’t hurt. 😉

    Chippewa Nature Center

    After we finished up at the high school, we made our way to the Chippewa Nature Center. It’s seriously my favorite. The light there gets me every time. Speaking of which, I think now’s a great time to mention that Chloe opted to get her makeup professionally done. The MUA I use is  http://www.beautybycathy.org/. She is amazing at doing natural makeup that isn’t too heavy or strong. She really helps compliment a girl’s natural beauty, and I strongly recommend that any girl booking a senior session with me get her makeup done professionally.

    Also, I’m just going to say that I love the outfits Chloe brought. I can tell that she really chose what SHE loves and feels confident and comfortable in. I want all my seniors to feel like themselves and to feel confident for their pictures. This next one just might be my favorite from her whole session.
