  • Dahlia Hill Senior Session

    Dahlia Hill Senior Session

    Dahlia Hill is such a gorgeous place for a senior session, so it’s hard to believe that this one is my first! If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know how much I love dahlias. We like to go to Dahlia Hill as a family in September and October every year and see the variety of flowers they have. If you like flowers, Dahlia Hill might be the perfect place for your senior session. If you like flowers AND your senior session takes place in the fall, this is definitely the place for you!

    Makayla wanted this spot for her first location. I was thrilled about it since I have wanted to do a senior session here for some time. We had so much sunlight, the weather was perfect, and we had an amazing time. Dahlia Hill is also a great location if you don’t want to spend your photoshoot time walking around. Since the place isn’t very big, most of our time was spent shooting pictures. I love how convenient this location is.

    Once we finished up there, we drove out to the Nature Center. And we had the best sunshine and glow for her pictures! Makayla is an excellent model, is easy to pose, and has an air of grace and poise in her presence. She is sweet, polite, fun, and a joy to work with for her senior pictures.

    Here’s what she said about her session: “Eve is an immensely kind and talented individual! She has a wonderful eye for beauty in nature and was a constant force of encouragement and positivity during my time with her. I could not have hoped for a better senior portrait session.”

  • Crooked River Senior Session

    Crooked River Senior Session

    Crooked River Weddings was kind enough to let Elizabeth have her senior session there, and what a session! Though a popular spot for weddings, Crooked River is exceptional for other sessions as well. When I first heard Elizabeth wanted her session here, I admit that I didn’t even know about this place. As soon as they made sure we could take her pictures there, I went to check it out myself before her shoot.

    Crooked River Weddings is located in Gladwin, Michigan. It is gorgeous and has all the things you could want in pictures – a barn, a covered bridge, a water wheel, a rusty truck, large trees, and a tree swing. It is a photographer’s dream.

    We cancelled Elizabeth’s session at least once because of heavy rain in the area and because we really wanted beautiful fall colors. On the day of her session though, the sun was shining, and the weather was perfect!

    Elizabeth was up for anything I tried. My favorite pictures of her session are probably the ones on the covered bridge and the ones on the swing. Isn’t that sunlight amazing?

    Since she loves to read, we had pictures with her reading a book. And since we stayed out late enough, we caught silhouettes at the end of the shoot. This location and this senior are an incredible match.

    Here’s what Elizabeth’s mom said about the session: “Everything about our experience with Eve from beginning to end far exceeded our expectations. She has a real sweet, fun and bubbly disposition, and I enjoyed watching her interact with our daughter. She went the extra mile to make sure our session included everything that we wanted it to and more. Eve will even help you to decide which outfits would photograph best. She was always quick to respond to inquiries and very thorough. This is our fourth and last set of senior pictures with all of our children being done by someone different. If we had it to do all over again, we would choose her for each and every one. It was a true blessing working with her and the pictures turned out beautiful. As previously stated, she truly did exceed our expectations in every area.”

    Picture-Perfect

    Picture-perfect is exactly how I would describe this session. From Taylor herself (so sweet!) to her outfits to the locations and weather, we really had an amazing senior photo shoot.

    Also, take a look at her makeup and hair which she got done professionally. So many of my seniors and their moms worry that professional makeup will look too heavy or unnatural. Taylor’s makeup is a picture-perfect example of how natural it can look. She’s beautiful without it. She’s beautiful with it. But wearing professional makeup makes editing for me SO much faster. I imagine it also helps Taylor feel more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. It’s a win-win situation! I’m always an advocate for my seniors getting their makeup done professionally, even if they hardly want any makeup done at all. Taylor’s makeup and hair pictured here are done by Laura from LC Makeup Artistry. I highly recommend her! Although I recommend my seniors get their makeup done, it is always their choice.

    Dow Gardens

    This session started at Dow Gardens. It was dark and overcast when we started, so we relied on my reflector quite a bit. I even got to pull out my flash for a few shots. Take a look at her gorgeous outfits. They are SO well put together! From the colors to the jewelry to the shoes, each outfit is a perfect example of dressing for your senior session.

    CNC

    Next, after we were done at Dow Gardens we made our way to the CNC and even caught some sunshine in our pictures. She brought her softball gear with her, and those are some of my favorites from the whole senior session.

    At the end, Taylor wore the cutest white dress. This completely shows her ability to be both tomboy and girly girl in one evening. Taylor, you are a dream to photograph! Thank you for bringing your A-game to your session. I loved every minute with you and your parents. Good luck finishing up your senior year!

  • A Red Truck and a Sweet Senior

    A Red Truck and a Sweet Senior

    A red truck is what this lovely senior requested to have in her pictures, and I was SO happy to oblige. Their red truck has been in her family for generations. If I remember correctly, it even has less than 50,000 miles on it. This is the first time I’ve photographed a senior session with a vehicle. I love that we did this and were able to get pictures their whole family will cherish for years to come!

    Emma is such a sweet senior, and I love that I got to know her and her mom (and meet her dad). Emma requested Downtown Midland for her first location. The sun was shining, and the day was absolutely lovely. You can see the alley that I love to take my seniors to for their pictures when we’re downtown. It just has so much character! That brick wall paired with the sweet Emma made a wonderful match.

    For her second outfit change we headed to the courthouse. I’ve done several sessions there, and I love each and every one. Speaking of character, our courthouse here in Midland is full of it and makes a wonderful location for senior sessions. Emma was awesome in taking direction, and the shot of her walking on the wall in front of the courthouse is a favorite of mine from her session.

    Red Truck

    For our second location, we traveled to the Chippewa Nature Center, and her dad met us there with their family’s red truck. That color is so great and photographs so well! We found the perfect pocket of light for it to really shine, and these pictures with the red truck are my favorites of the whole session.

    As the sun set, we grabbed some more pictures in fields and on paths. What a beautiful ending we had to an absolutely lovely session. Best of luck finishing up your senior year, Emma! I love that I got to hang out with you and your mom for the day.

  • Beachy Keen Senior Session

    Beachy Keen Senior Session

    Beachy Keen is the best I can do to describe how wonderful this session was. Monica chose Bay City State Park as her first location, and I was SO happy about that! Can you believe I’ve only done one other session there? It’s now my goal to take more out there this year. This beachy location is spectacular and had amazing light that was filtered through the trees. With the beachy atmosphere and beautiful light and water, this location is a photographer’s dream.

    Speaking of a photographer’s dream, Monica is it. Absolutely is it. She is joyful, graceful, easy to pose, and has the BEST smile ever. She was also up for anything I suggested which made for some of my favorite pictures ever.

    Beachy Keen at Bay City State Park

    Monica wore two dresses at her beach location, and they were perfect for the location and for movement. Dresses can help incorporate movement and fluidity through pictures. Just check them out as she walks along the shore. I love the wind whipping through her green dress.

    After we finished up there, we headed to the Chippewa Nature Center. If it were up to me, every one of my sessions would take place there. I never tire of that location, and there are so many different places to take pictures so that it always feels fresh and new.

    These pictures were taken in September, and I love that month for senior sessions! The sky is always so blue, and the temperature is usually perfect for wearing both summer clothes and fall clothes. I love the outfits Monica wore and the feeling of two seasons we got from her wardrobe and locations.

    Here’s what her mom says about their experience: “We have used different photographers over the years and by far Eve has been our absolute favorite. She was able to make the senior portrait session so fun and not stressful at all. She is very professional and has a fun personality which helps everyone be at ease. We loved all our products and would highly recommend her!!”

    I have the best clients ever. Have I already mentioned that? 😉 I loved getting to know you both. Monica, I hope your senior year is a wonderful one for you!
