Overcast days are not my favorite for portraits, but they are fun for some moody-looking pictures. My family and I went out in the evening shortly after dinner to Dow Gardens. The kids had fun playing in the bubbles. My husband had fun watching them and taking videos of the action. And I had fun taking pictures of flowers.
One of my favorite things about going to Dow Gardens is how diverse it is in every season. Even in the warmer months, the gardens change week to week. One week you’ll see blossoms of one type of plant, and the next those will be gone and you’ll see another. No matter how many times I go, I find different varieties of plants. This place is just so beautiful. I think that’s also why I love to take senior portraits here. I’m always discovering new places for portraits, and there are so many different and beautiful backgrounds. Bridges? You got ’em. Flowers? Yup! A barn, a stone fireplace, fir trees, a waterfall? Yep, yep, yep and yeppers.
Anywho, so it was overcast this evening, and I almost didn’t bring the camera. I adore the sun and back light, especially when shooting flowers. But I did anyway, and I was able to get so much mood from there being no sun. Just take a look!
